When Peas Die

16 Jul

That’s right – the pea plants died. The yellow peas are doing great, but the green peas are gone and the snow peas never made it either. Sigh. I changed things around a bit.

I took down the dead plants. I uprooted the snow peas and planted some Shasta daisies. I cut down the morning glories because my friend Tom told me they would take over the fence, and since it’s not our fence, I moved them to the broken futon.

I had to cut some of the vines to get it off the fence, so I’m a little nervous that it won’t survive the move.

I was sad that the bean plants came down, but I did find some flowers on the pole bean plant. I also am quite proud of the spearmint that I dug from my friend’s yard. It spread out into the container the way I had hoped.

I can’t wait to get it into a tall glass of lemonade! The tomato plant also has five more tomatoes! Only one plant has produced, but the others are hearty and healthy. I’ll plant more next year and see if my originals produce then.
