The Best French Toast

23 Jun

This recipe came from this book:

It’s the best french toast I’ve ever tasted, and this book is the best present I’ve ever received!

2/3 cup milk

4 large eggs

2 tablespoons sugar or maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

Melt two tablespoons unsalted butter over a griddle and whip together the above ingredients. Dip bread one at a time into the batter, making sure both sides are covered. The secret is to keep the bread from getting saturated by placing it in the batter then immediately flipping it over. After it is flipped over, remove it from the batter immediately and place it on the griddle.

Serve this warm with syrup, butter or jam.

Freeze leftovers in a zip-top bag. Reheat by placing individual slices on a plate. Place the plate in the microwave with a small bowl or mug of water. Heat for two to three minutes or until warm.
